Araglen Walk – Sunday March 11th
On Sunday March 11th 2012 the Knockmealdown Walking Club took on a lovely walk in the Knockmealdown Mountains on the road from Ballyporeen to Araglen. The walk takes in much of the hills over the Araglen region and the views are absolutely exceptional. The walk takes in some of the tracks on the Avondhu Way, a national waymarked trail.
The route is 11.5km in total and takes a little over 2 hours to complete with some moderate climbs along the way.
Many thanks to Jim O’Brien for planning the route and organising the walk on the day.
You’ll find the route as uploaded to ViewRanger here. If you sign up for an account you can download the route to your own phone to guide you if you want to take the same route. There are a lot of crossroads and forks along this route so you won’t want to take it on without a map unless you know the area well.
Below are a few pictures from the morning’s activities.
