Family Walk August 31st
The Concern Four County Challenge takes place on August 31st from Baylough to Ballyporeen and then on to King’s Yard outside Kilbehenny. For those in the local communities who would like to get involved and would rather a shorter walk, why not walk the last 10km in a local fundraising walk which is being held on the same day? A bus will leave King’s Yard at 1.15pm on Saturday, August 31st transferring walkers to the start point near Ballyporeen.
This walk will cross the valley which links the Knockmealdown and Galty Mountains on country roads and forest tracks. It will take about 3 hours at a leisurely pace and will be led by members of the Knockmealdown Ramblers.
Insurance is provided under the Get Ireland Walking Scheme, you can download the insurance form here. The local walk is a fundraiser for the Galty Steering Group which seeks to promote activity based tourism in the area (much as Knockmealdown Active does for the Knockmealdown Mountains).
There is a €10 entry fee on the day which will include a snack bag and bus transfer.
Parking at King’s Yard costs €2. Come on and join in, put the Galty and Knockmealdown Mountain areas on the map.
Children must be over 8. Not suitable for buggies.
